A 12-volt chaser is an electronic circuit that creates a series of flashing lights in a sequential pattern. The circuit is powered by a 12-volt DC power supply and typically consists of a series of LEDs or incandescent bulbs connected in a particular sequence.

To achieve the desired effect, the circuit uses timing components such as capacitors and resistors to control the on/off cycle of each light in the sequence. These timing components are connected to a series of transistors that act as switches, turning the lights on and off in the correct sequence.

There are various designs available for 12-volt chasers, ranging from simple circuits with two lights to more complex ones with dozens of lights. Some chasers also include adjustable speed controls, allowing users to change the speed at which the lights flash.

While commonly used in automotive applications for custom cars and motorcycles, 12-volt chasers can also be used for decorative lighting and other applications where a sequence of flashing lights is desired.
